Had the left eye done this AM and according to the Doc things went well. it was pretty weird, but nothing overly taxing. The eye patch is annoying and the lack of depth perception is hilarious, at least to the family. More tomorrow after follow-up appointment and the removal of the patch.
I know this may seem like off my normal topic, but it is a very personal example of the benefits of science.

Glad to hear it went well. You could have used this as an occasion to convert to Pastafarianism and don pirate regalia...
ReplyDeleteGood news. Just stay off your motorcycle for a couple of days. Try faith healing on the other eye. You know, just as an experiment.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dr. McGrath. "My he touch you with his noodly appendage!"
ReplyDeleteFaith Healing, Scripto? Might work, if not do you know any good snake oil salesmen?
ReplyDeleteI bet that is the first time 'good snake oil salesmen' was used in the same sentence.
"Done"? As in ... hm? Did I miss something?
ReplyDeleteErm. Nebbermind. I see. One of these days I'm facing cataract surgery, too. I'm of an age when 'let the cataract ripen' was a common saying because of the problems with cataract surgery, and it still gives me the jim-jams to think about it.
ReplyDeleteRBH, if you need it, go and get it! It was a snap. I am shocked to hear there is gambling . . .oh wait, wrong shocked. I am shocked at how well I can see now. According to my records i was 20-100 in the left and 20-50 in the right. I really shouldn't have been driving. Toss in the fact that just over a year ago there was no sign of cataracts. I can't wait for the right eye, scheduled for April 15.
ReplyDeleteThe surgery itself went even easier then everyone had been telling me. No pain, only pressure, with a small sting at the end when he injected antibiotic underneath my eye. The very next day I could see better. It is well worth it!
So far no complications, no sign of any problems. I have a follow-up tomorrow morning, so fingers crossed!
